Happy Monday Potty People!
Welcome back to another fantastic episode of “Potty Time with POTTYMINTS!”
This week, to honor Columbus Day Weekend… We figured we would make this week’s blog, about the absolutely true, untold Story of Christopher Columbus!
For those of you who for some reason never heard of Christopher Columbus, he was essentially the “Captain Sandy” from Bravo’s hit show “Below Deck: Mediterranean”
Among his many accolades, Columbus was perhaps most famous for discovering that the world is round.
While this news may come as a bit of a shock for all you “flat-earthers” out there…
After returning home from his expedition, Columbus was excited to show Queen Isabella of Spain his groundbreaking findings!
The was only one issue…
Do you know what else was invented in 1492?... “The Globe”
Most people during that time had already accepted Aristotle’s findings, from 2,000 years earlier, which also proved the world was round.
This was not looking good for Columbus or his personal legacy… he needed a new brand identity
Eventually in the 1800’s… Very Popular American Author, Washington Irving, wrote a book called “The Life and Voyages of Christopher Columbus” and it gained popularity worldwide!
(*in the 1800’s Books were like a Super Bowl Commercial – VERY Popular Worldwide*)
So much so… that it became the biggest hit in American Publishing History!
In the book, Irving writes that Columbus was responsible for the findings of the Earth being round…and because of the books worldwide popularity…
We now view this completely fictional event as Historical Fact…
And if you ask us… that’s pretty #factup
Speaking of voyages… let’s sail into this week’s Potty Picks!
Now that we got that whole… “Christopher Columbus” situation out of the way…
We move onto modern day America… specifically to Orange County, Florida where we find our Video of the Week courtesy of Eugene Bozzi!
Ahhhhh Florida… you never cease to amaze us with your absurdity and exotic wildlife!
I don’t think it would come as any surprise to anyone if they suddenly discovered Dinosaurs roaming South Beach… We think there may even still be people casually tanning on the beach!
One thing Floridians are no stranger to, is alligators. In Florida alone, there are over 1.25 Million Alligators.
So your occasional run-ins with these gigantic beasts is no surprise…
This week, Bozzi took matters into his own hands, literally, when an alligator inched its way to his neighbor's front yard on Tuesday. Without hesitation, Eugene Bozzi grabbed a garbage can and tried to lure it inside.
You have to see this to believe it, and needless to say, the video shows Bozzi returning the animal back to its natural habitat unharmed!
We know Mondays can be tough… but let’s turn those frowns upside down with this week’s Potty Picks!
We wanted to feature some feel-good music this week, that young or old – we think you are really going to enjoy these songs!
Have you ever showered with music? We cannot suggest it more! It is a Bathroom Game Changer!
This week, we feature music from: Silk Sonic (Bruno Mars & Anderson .Paak), James Brown, Rick James, Gnarles Barkley and Scary Pockets!
We once were seated at an event next to an older married couple, after introducing myself and speaking with them for a moment, they let me know that they had been married for 72 years!
I had to know… What was the secret to their relationship’s longevity! Their answer – Separate bathrooms!
While this would have been a fine Bathroom Moment, we have standards here at PTWPM… and that heartwarming story will simply not suffice for our POTTY People!
That is why for this week’s Bathroom Moment of the Week, we go to the home of Meghan Trainor and her husband Daryl Sabara who share his-her toilets in the same bathroom.
According to Trainor: "We just got a new house and we did construction — nobody knows this — but in our bathroom, there was one toilet," she noted. "A lot of times in the middle of the night when we're with the baby, we gotta pee at the same time. So I was like, 'Can we please have two toilets next to each other?'"
While this explanation does make sense… she later confirmed what we were all thinking on twitter:
We hope you enjoyed this week’s Potty Time with POTTYMINTS!
Hopefully, you learned a bit about American History, learned how to catch an alligator using a garbage bin, got some new music recommendations, and of course… you are now trying to convince your partner to get his and her side by side toilets… You’re welcome!
As you know, we like to conclude our blogs with a quote for the week ahead, something that you can use as a source of inspiration and motivation for the upcoming week!
This week, we figured we would give you an American Quote, from Benjamin Franklin!
"The Constitution only guarantees you the right to pursue happiness. You have to catch it yourself."
Benjamin Franklin
We hope you have a fantastic Columbus Day/Indigenous Peoples Weekend and we will see you next week for another episode of Potty Time with POTTYMINTS!
