2021 Year in Review! | Potty Time with POTTYMINTS (Ep. 33)

Goooood Morning Potty People!

Welcome back to our final episode of “Potty Time with POTTYMINTS” for the year 2021!

We figured since most of us, in the days of the pandemic, couldn’t even tell you what they ate for lunch that day… Or what day of the week it is…

We figured we would use todays blog to share some of our favorite moments, music and Bathroom stories of 2021!

While there were many stories that we could have begun with… we figured there was one story that we felt compelled to share with you… as we feel it did not get the attention is deserves.

For our Main Story this week, we fly all the way to Saudi Arabia, for King Abdulaziz’s Camel Festival

Yes, you read that right…. a Camel Festival

King Abdulaziz’s Camel Festival is an annual international cultural, economic, sports and entertainment event organized by the Saudi Camel Club.

The festival has activities such as racing, auctions and camel training…

33,000 camel owners from as far away as the US, Russia and France are participating in the King Abdulaziz Camel Festival, which is the largest in the world and lasts 40 days.

The Main event people come for is the Best-Looking Camel Award… The Miss Universe Pageant of the Camel Community.

And while this story seems like a joke… we assure you… it is not... But you may want to sit down for this next part…

The Winner of the Best-Looking Camel competition receives the grand prize of more than… $66 Million Dollars.

(To put it in perspective…the Miss Universe Pageant Winner receives $250,000 including perks and benefits)

Given the 66 MILLION Dollars at stake here… the competition gets VERY intense

Judges from the Saudi Camel Club are looking for key attributes include long, droopy lips, a big nose and a shapely hump.

All contestants were first led into a hall where their external appearance and movements were examined by specialists…

But in this lineup, they noticed some irregularities…

More than 40 camels were disqualified for receiving Botox injections, stretching body parts and other cosmetic enhancements.

The organizers of the pageant, the Camel Club, were cited as saying that they were "keen to halt all acts of tampering and deception in the beautification of camels" and promising to "impose strict penalties on manipulators".

They described how Botox was injected into camels' lips, noses, jaws and other parts of their heads to relax muscles; collagen fillers were used to make their lips and noses bigger; and hormones were given to boost muscle growth.

Rubber bands were also used on animals to make body parts bigger than normal by restricting the flow of blood… Kind of like “Camel Spanx”

While there are so many, truly absurd strange elements to this story…

We have to admit… seeing a crowd of men in bleachers, essentially catcalling a bunch of Botoxed-Pageant Camels is not something we had on our 2021 Bingo Card…

But as we all found out this past year… 2021 was a strange one…

With perky humps like those… it’s no wonder they’ve had some work done!

Let’s get into our 2021: Year in Review!

This past year has given us no shortage of Viral Video Moments!

While there were many to choose from, we decided to feature one of our favorite’s from Netflix’s show, “I Think You Should Leave” starring Tim Robinson.

We cannot recommend this show enough, for its unapologetic silliness.

Looking back on this past year, some of the best laughs we have had have come from this fantastic show!

Please enjoy our Video of The Year: “Dylan’s Burger”

While we typically like to use this part of the blog to showcase some new music, perhaps something that the radio isn’t playing these days…

We have to admit… We love hearing the hits on the radio!

If there is one thing to know about POTTYMINTS and this Blog, “Potty Time with POTTYMINTS”… it’s that we are truly on the cutting edge of everything Bathroom related.

You may recall that we featured a story about a TikTok creator named Samantha Hartsoe, who filmed her discovery of a hidden New York apartment that had been behind her bathroom mirror.

Since mentioning it on our blog, the story took on a life of its own! It eventually garnered worldwide attention, that TikTok made a National TV Commercial Campaign about it!

So it’s almost a no brainer that this Year’s Bathroom Moment of the Year goes to her!

Watch Samantha to recount her experience, and get a follow up on how its been since her newfound fame here!

This past week, amidst the craziness of the news these days… we learned of the passing of Desmond Tutu.

Desmond Tutu, South Africa’s Nobel Peace Prize-winning icon, an uncompromising foe of apartheid and a modern-day activist for racial justice and LGBT rights, died at 90.

World leaders and people around the globe mourned the death of the man viewed as the country’s moral conscience.

Tutu seemed to understand the true meaning of life, and we wanted to conclude our blog this week by honoring him, by sharing with you one of his quotes.

“God's dream is that you and I and all of us will realize that we are family, that we are made for togetherness, for goodness, and for compassion.”

Desmond Tutu

On a personal note, I wanted to take a moment to thank each and every one of you!

This past year has been difficult, as a first time Mom, as a Wife, as a sister and as a business owner… 2021 really challenged us all.

Challenges like dealing with supply chain issues, shipping delays and of course, keeping myself and my family safe in the process!

And in these moments of doubt – you and the POTTY People community supported us, you were patient with us, and you were completely understanding.

For all of these things, we are truly so beyond grateful, we wish you and your families a Happy and Healthy New Year!

Happy New Year!
